Memorial to the Mormon martyr Joseph Standing, a missionary to north Georgia. His aggressive style was unacceptable to many of the residents at that time. On their way out of town Joseph and his traveling companion were interrupted by a mob. It is unclear whether the mob killed Joseph out right, or misinterpreted his action as holding a gun. Either way, the mob shot and killed Joseph. The memorial park now stands at the place where it all happened. Open daylight hours.

Directions: From Varnell, Hwy 2 West to Lake Kathy Road, turn right, then right on Standing Road.
