Atlanta Campaign Park This Atlanta Campaign Park pavilion gives a description of Sherman's and Johnston's movements May 7-13, 1864. General George Thomas, who commanded the Army of the Cumberland, moved towards Buzzard's Roost and Dug Gap while General James McPherson headed south to Snake Creek Gap near Resaca.

From Red Clay, General John Schofield moved south towards Dalton, hoping to avoid fighting on the mountains west of Dalton. With McPherson's appearence near Resaca, General Joseph Johnston chose to withdraw south to Resaca

Directions: U. S. Highway 41 north of Dalton, pavilion located in front of the GA State Patrol office.
